The Call of the Serengeti: A Guide to the Great Migration
The Great Migration is one of the most spectacular natural events on the planet. Every year, over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move in a giant loop across the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of fresh pasture. For travelers planning a luxury safari, witnessing the migration is a bucket-list priority. The key to a successful safari is timing and location. In January and February, the herds congregate in the southern Serengeti for calving season, attracting high concentrations of predators. By July and August, the dramatic river crossings begin as the herds move north across the Mara River.
